Quality Assurance
It has always been Tremco's philosophy that a properly designed, installed and maintained roof can last
the life of the building. At Tremco, quality starts in the Research and Development process and continues
throughout the life of the roof. Our Quality Assurance encompasses several key components:
Research and Development:
Product design is a critical element in our Quality Assurance. Product Development includes material
performance criteria as well as environmental considerations. Our concern about the environment begins
when the products are invented in the laboratory and lasts until they may have to be disposed of in a landfill.
Therefore we develop materials which are asbestos free and in strict accordance with the Environmental
Protection Agency.
Manufacturing:
It is critical that quality and consistency are measured against known and published standards. We
manufacture products which consistently meet and exceed standards including those of ASTM and NIST for
membrane performance.
Specifications:
Optimum performance is achieved through the use of well established roofing procedures. Specifications
are detailed for the needs of a specific roof. To assist in this process, our representatives are
trained in sound roofing Specifications are detailed for the needs of a specific roof. At Tremco,
the typical representative receives over 500 hours of formal instruction the first year alone.
We have a long established a reputation for field technical ability. The representative is further assisted by
a field support staff, consisting of a technical manager and an inspection services group. We also assist
specifiers on existing roofs by providing in-depth analysis of the roof problems.
Application:
The contractor becomes a critical element in the relationship between Tremco, the Architect and the
Building Owner. We strive to select contractors who have met our installation, financial, and insurance
requirements (those who have established a reputation of quality work and financial stability).
During the project, the Tremco representative is on-site periodically to aid in quality control of the
application.
Before the installation considered complete, a final inspection is carried out by the owner and /or specifier, the
contractor and Tremco's trained inspector. Any deficiencies are noted and corrected. After the inspection
team is satisfied that the roof has been properly applied according to the specification, the warranty is issued.
Tremco has various warranty options available. These include 5 year, 10 year, and 15 year warranties.
Warranties, in general, designed to provide protection in the event that the materials are defective. It
is Tremco's position that warranties cannot be used for the steps of: proper analysis, system and material
choice, application and maintenance. It is only through these steps that roof system performance and longevity
can be assured.
After the Application:
After the installation, every client receives an Owners Manual, along with the warranty. The Owner's Manual
stresses preventive and maintenance procedures designed to keep the roof in good condition. A sticker to be
placed in the roof access areas with a toll-free number, in the event of a problem, is also included.
Regular periodic inspections help assure the longevity of the roof by allowing conditions to be stopped
before they become problems. Tremco warranted systems have a regularly scheduled inspection cycle
depending on the length of the warranty. After each scheduled inspection an executive summary is
published. This executive summary includes a checklist of the components examined, a narrative portion
describing the roof and a maintenance schedule.
